A successful 10th edition of the annual Philippine Property and Investment Exhibition (PPIE) was held from May 11-12, 2024, at The Bristol Hotel in Dubai, Deira, United Arab Emirates, reaffirming its status as the Philippines’ largest international investment show.

The PPIE has been committed to promoting financial literacy to empower overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and foreigners in making sound investment choices.

This year, PPIE 2024 had over 50 speakers and corporate leaders who led more than 20 forums and discussions, over 50 professional and community groups rallying behind the two-day expo, 73 entries for the annual PPIE Interschool Competition, themed “What’s Your Dream House?” and most excitingly, the launch of the global campaign #investPilipinas #investPPIE, aimed to empower everyone in the world of financial literacy.

One of the highlights of the PPIE 2024 was the exciting launch of #investPilipinas, #investPPIE campaign.

The global campaign, which was launched by Dr. Remo, aims to empower OFWs and their families in the Philippines. It helps all Filipinos to make sound investment choices and prepare for a better and more secure future.

MoU signing: Creating stronger Filipino ties

In a momentous occasion for the Filipino communities and groups in Dubai, numerous Filipino organizations and community leaders have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the New Perspective Media Group, the organizer of the Philippine Property and Investment Exhibition (PPIE), recognized as the Philippines’ premier international property and investment exposition, as well as the publisher of The Filipino Times, the largest free newspaper in the Middle East and a leading digital news platform catering to overseas Filipinos globally.

“As a parent, yun talaga ang responsibility namin na bigyan sila ng something na magagamit nila in the future,” she added.

Another first-timer attendee of the event, OFW Elaine Castillo, shared how she tried to start investing before but was not able to push through.

“Before, hindi ko natuloy yung investment namin sa Pinas kasi pumunta na kami sa Dubai,” she said.

When asked about her main motivator why she visited the exhibition, she said: “My main motivator is yung anak namin. Kailangan talagang mag-isip about sa future niya.”

Not only did they dazzle the crowd with their talents but also graciously shared their journey and preparation methods for the upcoming world championships.

“It’s one or two years of preparation for the upcoming World Championships of Performing Arts in Holywood, California, USA,” says UAE National Director of WCOPA, Elipas Sibua.

“Some of them were supposed to compete last year, but because there were problems along the way, they weren’t able to compete last year,” he added.

The PPIE event, renowned for showcasing property investment options to OFWs, had a glimpse of the brilliant young minds and skilled artists on stage. There were singers, dancers, and instrumentalists who wooed the huge crowd.

During the live interview with The Filipino Times, the young singers from WCOPA shared how they were preparing for the 27th annual WCOPA event held on June 28 to July 7, 2024.

“It takes one and a half hour of practice each day, drinking a lot of warm water to keep your throat warm. No sugar, no sweets, no cold drinks. So, it’s pretty much a commitment,” says young singer Jerusha D. Souza.

“It’s hard, but it’s worth it,” she added.

BOOTH ACTIVATIONS AND SEGMENTS FOR FILIPINO COMMUNITIES

The Philippines Partnerships Circle, Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Bayanihan Council Abu Dhabi, Philippine Business Council – Dubai & Northern Emirates; and Filipino Social Club – Dubai also set-up booths and some took part in the summit where they shared valuable insights to their fellow Overseas Filipinos.

The 10th PPIE also provided a platform for these organizations to conduct panel discussions and other related activities.

The Philippines Partnership Circle featured two panel discussions, including a fireside chat and a keynote session.

The first panel discussion tackled the topic “Love Philippines: A foreign-friendly investment destination” led by Mme. Marlene Murphy, Philippines Partnership Circle’s President as well as Fintech, Private Equity Investment; Lady Elizabeth Kelly, the President of Lady Elizabeth Kelly & Co.; Dr. Raphael Nagel, the Executive Chairman of the Tactical Management and The Abrahamic Business Circle; Dr. Munir Ahmad Ch., Group CEO of the Royal Family Office of HH Sheikh Abdulhakim Al Maktoum; and Mohammad Jaber, the Co-Founder of Elas.

The second panel discussion was a keynote presentation on “Revolutionizing Traditional Economies for the Future” by Gustavo A. Montero, the Founder and Chairman of Carter Capital.

There was also a FilComm Hour where the panelists discussed OFW Mother’s Thriving and Success Stories in the UAE by Emma Gerel of Bergem Trading, Grace “Yurie” Moore of Luxuristcbm, Grace Power Systeme Event and Mrs. Universe Philippines FDN-Middle East.

The chairman of the PBC-DNE, Edwin Duria, the CEO & Founder of Play Middle East Business Consultancy, alongside Board of Directors Mariben Christine Tan Eustaquio, Founder & Managing Director of EZONE Business Setup; and Atty. Rowena Aggabao, a Managing Partner and Co-Owner of A&R Partners Ltd., A&R Integrated Farm, and AMMA Consultancy also tackled “Insights for Overseas Filipinos in Setting Up Business in UAE!”

Meanwhile, discussing “Pinoy Flavah: Insights from League of Food & Beverage Enterprises (LFBE-DNE) in kickstarting your F&B business in the UAE,” were Evangeline Monjardin (Managing, Desert Wok Restaurant), Robert Capulong (Managing Director, Agemono Grill Restaurant LLC and Chairman of LFBE), and Chaida Ortil-Das (Owner, Panadero)

Lastly, on the second day, Filipino Social Club also had their own segment. The Filipino Social Club Members held a Philippine Independence Day Press Conference, 2nd accreditation of FilSoc organizations, and a MoU signing between The Filipino Times and Filipino Social Club.

The participation of these Filipino communities showed their strong commitment to collaboration especially with their fellow overseas Filipinos. This collective effort not only highlighted the unity of the Filipino community in the United Arab Emirates but also their desire to contribute to growth and success.

PPIE 2024 brought together industry leaders, investors, and stakeholders to explore the limitless opportunities in the Filipino real estate market.

New Perspective Media (NPM) Group, the organizer of the Philippine Property and Investment Exhibition (PPIE) – the Philippines’ largest international property and investment show – has launched the campaign, #investPilipinas #investPPIE, in line with the investment expo’s plan to expand globally during the 10th PPIE in Dubai.

Dr. Karen Remo, the CEO of NPM Group, further announced the plan to launch the expo in other key markets in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Oman. This marks a significant step towards providing Filipinos abroad the avenue that provides investment opportunities and forums.
